TLDR: Many entrepreneurs try to follow strategies that don’t fit who they are. In this extract from Marketing Like We’re Human, Sarah Santacroce explores how understanding your natural wiring helps you build a business that feels aligned and sustainable.
This article is an extract from my book Marketing Like We’re Human. In this chapter, we explore the importance of understanding how you are naturally wired as an entrepreneur. Instead of trying to fit into predefined business models, we look at how honoring your own way of thinking and working can lead to more ease and alignment.
There is no one “right” way
In business, we are often told that there is a right way to do things.
Follow this strategy.
Use this funnel.
Apply this system.
And while these approaches can work for some, they don’t work for everyone.
Because we are not all wired the same way.
Understanding your natural wiring
Each of us has a unique way of:
Thinking
Making decisions
Communicating
Creating
Some people move quickly and take action fast.
Others need time to reflect before making decisions.
Some thrive in structure.
Others need flexibility and space.
None of these are better or worse.
They are simply different ways of operating.
What happens when you go against your nature
When you try to follow a way of doing business that doesn’t fit you, things start to feel harder than they need to be.
You may feel stuck.
Overwhelmed.
Disconnected from your work.
Not because you’re doing something wrong.
But because you’re doing something that doesn’t match who you are.
A personal reflection
For a long time, I tried to follow strategies that didn’t feel natural to me.
I pushed myself to show up in ways that didn’t quite fit.
I tried to adopt systems that worked for others.
But instead of creating results, it created friction.
It wasn’t until I began to understand my own wiring that things started to shift.
I could finally work with myself, instead of against myself.
Working with your strengths
When you understand how you are wired, you can begin to:
Choose strategies that fit you
Create processes that feel natural
Communicate in a way that feels authentic
Instead of forcing yourself into a mold, you build a business around who you are.
Why this matters for your business
When your business aligns with your natural way of being:
Things feel easier.
You have more energy.
You become more consistent.
Not because you are pushing harder.
But because you are working in a way that fits you.
A question to sit with
What feels natural to you in the way you work and communicate?
And where might you be forcing yourself into a way that doesn’t truly fit?
