If you’re a conscious entrepreneur or independent change agent looking to build a business that goes beyond profits and is in harmony with your core values, then adopting a holistic business approach is the only way you’ll want to grow your business.
What is a Holistic Business Approach ?
A holistic business approach means looking at your business as a whole, considering not just money matters but also your personal happiness, well-being, and the impact you make. It recognizes that your business is closely tied to your beliefs, lifestyle, and long-term dreams.
It encourages you, as an entrepreneur, to connect your business plans with your own values and personality. It highlights the importance of knowing yourself, being true to who you are and building a business that creates spaciousness for a conscious life with plenty of self-care, time in nature and other regeneration for yourself.
And to me, it also means that you see yourself and your business as part of our whole humanity – and contribute to making our world a better place for all of us.
The Holistic Business Approach means: Integrating Personal Values and Business Success
A central aspect of the holistic business approach is integrating personal values into every facet of the business. When your business aligns with your values, it becomes an extension of who you are, and your passion for your work will resonate with your ideal clients, individuals or companies.
Defining Your Business’s Purpose for a Holistic Business Approach
The first step in adopting a holistic business approach is to define the purpose of your business beyond just financial gains. Ask yourself what impact you want to create in the world and how your business can contribute positively to our world.
In my 1-on-1 Conscious Business Coaching I use the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to discover what matters most to you – and your clients.

Identifying Personal Strengths, Passions & Personality Traits
Understanding your unique strengths, passions and personality traits is important in this approach. Recognize how you are wired and what skills and abilities you possess that can be leveraged to build a successful business that brings you fulfillment.
From the Humane Marketing Creed:
We align who we are with what we do
We don’t change who we are in order to do what we do. We’re the real deal.
Creating Products and Services with Meaning
In the holistic business approach, our focus is on creating products and services that truly address the needs of our clients and make a positive difference in their lives – and regenerate our planet. Rather than pushing our products onto people, we identify the problem or the challenges our clients are facing and then we openly communicate about these issues and offer genuine solutions. By doing so, we naturally capture the attention of those whom we are meant to serve.
Our holistic approach not only benefits our clients but also guides our business towards long-term success and we create a sustainable and purpose-driven business.
From the Humane Marketing Creed:
We make the world a better place
Everything we do aims to make this world we live in a better place: our products and services, our relationships, our communications.
Holistic Business: Measuring Success Beyond Profits
In the holistic business approach, money is not the only way we measure success. We also value other factors that contribute to our overall well-being.
- One essential aspect is our own and our client’s and employee’s mental well-being. A holistic business is a business that creates space for the being (connection with nature, mindfulness, fun, love etc) so that we have the energy for the doing.
- Furthermore, we take our environmental responsibility seriously. We are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and implementing sustainable practices. By incorporating environmentally friendly processes, we contribute positively to preserving our planet for future generations.
- Lastly, our sense of responsibility goes beyond our business. We believe in giving back to the community that supports us. We make a positive impact on the communities we operate in, fostering a sense of connection and mutual support.
From the Humane Marketing Creed:
We cultivate community
We care deeply about creating win-win-win situations. Win for the world, win for our clients, and win for ourselves.

Building Authentic Relationships
There are two types of businesses: a hustle business based on pushy marketing techniques and fear-based selling to strangers, or a long-term business, your life’s work, that’s based on authentic relationships.
A holistic business approach focuses on building authentic relationships with our clients, suppliers, and partners. These genuine connections are based on trust and lead to long-term collaborations that benefit everyone involved.
In order to build authentic relationships, we need to start with ourselves. Find out who we are, and then bring all of that into our business, communications and marketing.
Building authentic relationships in 4 steps:
Step 1: Find Yourself First
As Humane Marketers we start with ourselves, before we even think about our ideal clients. It’s time to rumble with whom you are, your story, your values, your worldview.
Step 2: Bring More of You to Your Marketing
Once you know who you are, well, if you want to work only with ideal clients (or dream clients – see summit below), then you need to bring more of you to your marketing. My post shows you how.
Step 3: Make Your Worldview Your Niche
If you’ve been with me for a while you know that I have a bit of a different take on niching. Yes, you need to know whom you serve. But that doesn’t need to be just one specific gender or type of person. I say make your worldview your niche!
Step 4: Be Selective about Your Ecosystem
It’s tempting to accept just any client or just any collaboration. Usually the ego is somehow involved in the wrong decisions. What’s the point of having hundreds of names on your email list but not no one opening your newsletters? Only seek exposure where YOUR people hang out.
From the Humane Marketing Creed:
We aim to bring back the human connection to marketing
As much as we love technology, we always prioritize the human connection in our marketing activities.
Conclusion on the Holistic Business Approach
The holistic business approach offers conscious entrepreneurs and change agents a path to build their business that is not only financially successful but also deeply fulfilling and aligned with their inner values and part of their life’s work. By integrating your personal values and worldview into every aspect of your work and showing up authentically as a whole person, not just a business person, you will create meaningful connections, serve only the right clients, make money all while making a positive impact on the world.
